| Band members * Jonathan Mess - Screamed vocals Dance Gavin Dance is a six-member post-hardcore/experimental band from Sacramento, California. They released “Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean” in 2006 and “Downtown Battle Mountain” in 2007 on Rise Records. In August of 2007 guitarist Sean O’Sullivan left the band for personal reasons and joined band Consider The Thief. In November of 2007 Jonny Craig left the group, a detailed statement of why he was kicked out was posted the same month, but later removed. Kurt Travis, formerly of Five Minute Ride, has now replaced Jonny as lead singer. Jonny has joined Emarosa. The band entered the studio on April 20th, 2007 and will release their second full length album on August 19th, 2008. Dance Gavin Dance was formed out of the dissolution of several other bands, including Farewell Unknown, Ghost Runner On Third and Atherton.[1] Jonny Craig and Sean O’Sullivan joined in 2005 and early 2006 to complete the lineup. They released their first EP on November 14, 2006, titled Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean through Rise Records. They entered the studio again in January 2007 with Kris Crummet, who produced Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Fear Before the March of Flames, and released their first full length CD, Downtown Battle Mountain on May 15, 2007 on Rise Records. The album was leaked on April 12, 2007. [edit] Loss of Second Guitarist On August 5, 2007 guitarist Sean O’Sullivan stated in a personal blog that he would be leaving Dance Gavin Dance to join the band Heartshed (now called Consider the Thief). He stated that there was no “bad blood” among himself and other Dance Gavin Dance members. Dance Gavin Dance replaced O’Sullivan with Zac Garren, the band’s former “merch” guy. On November 9, 2007 it was stated that the reason for Sean’s leaving was caused by vocalist Jonny Craig’s intolerance of his religion in a blog on the band’s MySpace page. [edit] Jonny Craig’s Departure On November 9, 2007 the band posted this statement about the departure of Jonny: “We are still with Rise Records, we are still with our current manager, and we are still with our current booking agent. We will be getting a new singer as soon as we can find one. Everyone else is still in the band. If you want to audition send an email here with a sample of your singing. Right now we are all moving into a house in Sacramento to start writing for our next album. We will not abandon old songs and will still be playing them when we tour again in the near future. We understand what we are doing and we will make our next album better than the last. We want to apologize to fans who have not been able to see us due to cancelled shows.”
